Hi there, I’m Jordan.

I am a clinical psychologist based in Johannesburg, South Africa, but also a lover of books, animals and plants.

During my studies, my Honours and Masters’ research focused on issues related to gender and sexuality. In my Honours year, I explored the role of the internet in trans identity creation, and for Masters, I looked at LGBTQI+ learner experiences in single-sex boys schools in SA.

I am passionate about queer spaces and a proud LQBTQI+ affirming therapist. I am very fulfilled by engaging with my young (mostly), queer and quirky clients.

When I am not working, I love to read all sorts of things, especially a good fantasy or thriller, or spending time with my dogs/therapy assistants.

As the psychologist Carl Jung says, “The shoe that fits one person pinches another; there is no one recipe for living that suits all cases”. Get in touch and see where our therapy journey goes.

My philosophy

I practice psychodynamically, meaning I work in a longer-term way and focus on patterns that may exist in someone’s life. Together we unpack where in their history these may stem from. My aim is to create a warm, compassionate and safe space where an individual can be open without fear of judgement.

It is important to me to create a space for you that is safe and affirming, that embraces diversity, and encourages self-reflection. I am a proudly LGBTQI+ affirming practitioner and work with various identities and practices (eg lesbian, gay, heterosexual, pansexual, questioning, bisexual, asexual, aromantic, intersex, transgender, cisgender, genderqueer, agender, kink, non-binary and gender non-conforming).

I also work with different relationship structures such as open relationships, polyamory, or relationship anarchy. I see all individuals as experts on their own lives, not me. I am likely to work with you on uncovering your own solutions and not providing you with answers. To do this, the relationship between us needs to feel safe, deep and trusting, and I will work hard to provide you with that space.

Why choose therapy?

Being human is a challenge for us all. The journey of life is one of survival, joy and intense moments of struggle. From those with more severe mental health challenges, to those simply wanting to know the workings of their minds more intimately, psychotherapy is a powerful tool to facilitate your own healing and cope with life’s challenges.

Part of the joy of therapy is that you and your therapist form an honest and trusting relationship where you can be heard without judgement in a safe space.

Many of us carry far too many struggles alone and a safe space can be all you need to overcome some of what you have been carrying alone. Starting therapy can be an anxiety-provoking journey, but I hope you can make the jump to finding a space together to allow you the time to grow and heal.

You deserve to choose to find fulfillment and healing. I can offer the space for you to go on that journey.

Self-awareness is a supreme gift, a treasure as precious as life. This is what makes us human.
